Put some information here about the Security workshop
could include sections on
- using putty and ssh to get secure access to remote machines
- setting up email clients to use pop3s, imaps, smtp-auth and TLS
- settings up irc clients to use ssh
- building encrypted tunnels across the untrusted networks using ssh, vtund or ipsec
and definitely needs basic stuff:
- how to turn services off (what are services, daemons, which ones do we need?)
- how to set up your firewall (what is a firewall, what can i do with it?)
- password security (why do i need passwords?)
It may be a good idea to discuss the human 'social engineering' elements of security.
Public Key Cryptography made easy. Digitally signing and/or encrypting email?
